Aaron Hill is a creative thinker who enjoys developing alternative approaches to the challenges that businesses are faced with today. From deep ecology to strategic thinking, his imaginative approach to the world has lead him on a path less traveled from the norm while simultaneously allowing him to thrive within traditional environments
Aaron is an active learner who is continuously engaged in researching business models that prove success as we move forward into a new paradigm of business. He believes that there are opportunities for small business to improve upon their overall operations by implementing sustainable methodologies into their everyday practices. This involves actively researching how organizations are measuring and leveraging their organizational social capital for financial gains. Currently, Aaron is taking his research to a new level to explore the economic viability and potential opportunities in developing community based cooperative organizations with a foundation built upon sustainability.
Aaron obtained an MBA in Sustainable Enterprise from Dominican University of California in San Rafael, California. Prior to getting his MBA, he spent 8 years in San Diego, California working in the civil engineering consulting industry managing a variety of environmental projects throughout California. He has a BA in Environmental Studies with a minor in Horticulture from Naropa University
in Boulder, Colorado. He was born and raised in Seattle, Washington and currently resides in Portland, Oregon.
Aaron has worked with many startups and small businesses across a variety of industries such as food service, transportation, real estate, commercial and residential development, health and wellness and community non profits. He is currently the Co-Founder and Principal of Starting Sustainability, a boutique business consulting firm, and Co-Founder of a cooperative development consulting firm called ThinkBottle, LLC.
In his free time, Aaron enjoys traveling, hiking, biking, reading, brewing beer, and has an extensive musical collection of bootlegged shows and vinyl records. He also enjoys rooting for his home town sports teams: Seahawks and Mariners.
